My name is Sebastian and I am 15 years old. I'm a regular guy but my grades are just horrible. I can't concentrate at all when I study and get distracted by the smallest things. I want to get the most out education so I can live better when I grow up. However, if this problem keeps continuing how am I going to work? I need to go to a good college! What's happening to me? I also treat everyone around me horribly. I would be very aggressive and have temper issues at time. Just today, I hit one of my friends because he got mad for interrupting he was talking. I didn't mean to hit him but at that time I was just so mad. So right now I feel sad and depressed. My mood changes so often and so quickly.
When I first saw this, I immediately thought of Schizophrenia because of your distractions. However, in order to have Schizophrenia, there would have to be symptoms of hallucinations, lack of hygiene and more. From what you've said about your inability to focus and outburst of emotion, I would say that you have ADHD or also know as attention deficit hyperactivity. Your constant change of emotion and your aggression would be defined as hyper-activity. There is so much energy contained in you that you have to do something in order to leak your hyper activity through. Along with your inability to focus, it is because your hyper-activity that is going through you can not be contained enough to sit down in a class and just listen.
Having ADHD might be a big burden, and the people who diagnose this disorder will have a hard time excelling in the courses of academic and social issues. I would suggest going to the hospital and check it out. This disorder is not serious therefore you will most likely only receive pills to control your hyper activity. There will be no hospitalization process or any activities of the sort.I would personally prescribe to you methylphenidate. Methylphenidate is used on people who are diagnosed with ADHD and narcolopusey. This drug keeps people awake and alert for the people with narcolopusey and allows them to focus more. Methylphenidate also has a calming affect that will aid you in containing your hyper-activities. http://sleep.emedtv.com/methylphenidate/methyphenidate.html January 11 http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/attention-deficit-hyperactivity-disorder-adhd/index.shtml January 10
